Larry Wayne Acord

Larry Wayne Acord passed away on Wednesday. April 23, 2025 in Ocean Springs, MS at the age of 64.

Larry Wayne was born on September 25, 1960 in Pascagoula, MS to Ellis Jones Acord Sr and Dorris Thompson Acord. He worked for 25 years at Ocean Springs Lumber in contract sales. It was more than a job. Those he worked with were an extension of his family. He could look rough and gruff but his heart was as soft as a teddy bear. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan through the good, the bad, and the ugly.  He enjoyed Nascar so much that his tag was 24 (Jeff Gordon) for years and his latest favorite was Chase Elliott. He loved riding his Harley and being out on the open road and enjoying nature. In 2014 he lost the love of his life and soul mate Teresa. With the help of his furry companions, Scooter, Bae Bae, and NuNu helped, carry him through the rough patches of life.

Larry Wayne is survived by two brothers; Ellis “Budgie” Acord and his wife Linda and Roy Dale Acord and his wife Karen all of Hickory, MS and Agnes Fairley Russell of Decatur, MS; fiancé,
Laura Cummings of Gautier, MS; an aunt, Bettie Ruth Killingsworth of Gautier, MS and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the MICU nursing staff at Ocean Springs Hospital. Your sincere compassion and care for Larry Wayne was a blessing us during some very dark days.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 4:00 pm with visitation one hour prior, at Turning Point UPC, 4404 Gautier-Vancleave Rd, Gautier, MS with Rev Derrick Killingsworth officiating.
