Lewis Randall Cooley

Lewis Randall Cooley, age 86, of Pascagoula, Mississippi passed away after a brief illness at USA Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama on Friday, June 19, 2026.  He was born in Laurel, Mississippi on September 7, 1939, and raised in Eucutta, Mississippi until 1962 when he came to Pascagoula, Mississippi to work at Ingalls Shipbuilding.  At Ingalls, Lewis was in the Guard Force and later transferred to the Fire & Safety Department from which he retired in 1998.  He was a member of Zion Rest Congregational Methodist Church in Eucutta, Mississippi where he loved attending the yearly homecoming and visiting with family.  In his later years, Lewis attended Eastlawn United Methodist Church in Pascagoula.  A member of Elks Lodge #1120 in Pascagoula, Lewis greatly enjoyed the Old Timer’s Dinner where he celebrated 55 years of membership in 2026.  Many will remember Lewis Cooley for sitting on his front porch each day and waving at those who passed his corner of Pascagoula Street and Washington Avenue.  He will be greatly missed.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Benton Cooley and Mary Rowell Cooley Blackmon; his brothers, Lionel Cooley, Ervin Cooley, Curtis O. Cooley, Thomas Cooley, and William A. Cooley; and sisters, Mildred Cooley Creel and Virginia Cooley Wedgeworth; and his son-in-law, Scott Holliday.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sandra McFaul Cooley, his daughter, Robbie (Manuel Heredia) Cooley Holliday and his son, Trevor (Laura) Cooley; grandchildren, Tyler Louise Holliday and Brandon Scott (Julie Louque) Holliday; and step grandson, Gene (Danielle) Warren.  He is also survived by his brothers, James K. Cooley, Freddie Cooley and Phillip Cooley, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Friday, June 26, 2026, at O’Bryant O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Funeral Service will begin at 11:30am in the funeral home chapel  with Deacon Stephen O’Brien officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Pascagoula.  Pallbearers will be Lance Bodden, Michael Lynn, Todd Lynn, Kevin Verrett, Danny Fallo, and Trevor Cooley. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Rest Congregational Methodist Church, 315 Eucutta Road, Shubuta, MS 39360.
