Linda Diane Kendrick Abel was born in Columbia, MS on July 14th, 1947, and was called home to be with our Lord on May 9th, 2021. She will forever leave a hole in our hearts.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert Louis Abel, her mother, Ruth Kendrick and her father J.T. Kendrick, all formerly of Pascagoula.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her three children, Jennifer (Glenn) Walley of Pascagoula, MS, Jeffrey (Carla) Abel of Racine, Wisconsin, and Joy Abel Davis of Petal, MS; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brynda and David Moore, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also a proud “Gabby” of seven grandchildren; Justin Walley; Claiborne, Lizzy and Camille Davis; and Nathan, Hayden and Meredith Abel, along with her honorary grandkids, Mckenzie Dunn, Hannah Scott, and Cecily and Tai Johnson. Linda was also blessed with lifelong friends, especially Carleen Scott, Sandra Morgan, Mary Margaret Lawrence and Thuy Sherman.
Linda graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1965. She met and married the love of her life, “Abe” later that same year. Her most cherished memories were of raising her three children at home. Later in life, Linda bought into her first business, Clark’s Fire Protection and Screenprinting, and spent many years serving the communities of Jackson County. In her later years, she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandkids, where she spent countless hours volunteering with PTO’s, fundraisers, band, cheer and soccer.
Linda enjoyed baking, sewing baby clothes for her grandkids, throwing parties and playing the slot machines. She will always be remembered for her love of holidays, her funny hats and shades, her front porch coffee, and for making sure that no one who entered her home left without feeling welcomed and loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pascagoula, MS. In honor of her love of all things colorful and sparkly, the family will be wearing bright colors to the service. Please feel free to honor her memory and wear your brightest, too.
Visitation is Saturday, May 15th from 10 A.M.- 11 A.M. at O’Bryant O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula, MS, with a memorial service immediately following at 11 A.M in the funeral home chapel.
