Mack B. Hester passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025 in Mobile, Al at the age of 81. He was born March 18, 1944 in Pascagoula, MS to Steve and Etta Hester as 6th child of 12. He worked as a tow boat captain for 64 years with American Commercial Lines.
He married the love of his life, Gwindolyn, on March 13, 1964 and together were blessed with a daughter, Pam. Mack was a gifted woodworker building tables, chairs, cradles, hope chests, and picture frame to name a few.
Mack remodeled and rebuilt a bus conversion into a RV for him and his wife to travel and they went all around the world enjoying and seeing the beautiful places together.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 11 sisters and brothers, Alton Hester, George Hester, Dozier Hester, Bernice Rider, Marvin Hester, Marion Thomas, Alvia Hester, Fran Johns, Herman Hester, Roger Hester, and Maudie Hester.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gwindolyn Hester of Grand Bay, AL; and his special dad’s greatest gift, Pam Hester Hupko (Chip); three grandchildren, Amanda Morgan, Michelle Chesnut (Billy), and Michael Davis (Amanda); five great grands, Layla Morgan, Mack Morgan; Issabella, Brody, Charlotte, Madelline Chesnut and Zachary Davis. numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and great friends.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 19, 10:00- 11:00am at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am with Rev. John Turner officiating. Interment will conclude at Johnson Cemetery in Wade, MS. You may send condolences to his family or share a memory of him on the Tribute Wall.
