Malcolm Byron Obituary

Malcolm L. Byron, age 83, of Moss Point passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at his home.  Malcolm was one of 10 children born to Lionel Clayton Byron, Sr and Clara Booker Byron. His family were share croppers in Grand Bay, AL and he lived in this area all of his life. At the age of 14, Malcolm began his passion and career catching shrimp, crabs, and oysters.  He could tell many stories of the things he witnessed and experienced especially God’s touch on nature.

At the age of 75, he retired and enjoyed spending time and giving of his heart and home to anyone in need of care and love.  This included family members, adults, children, and animals.   He made a difference in the lives of everyone he knew and will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature.

On November 12, 2016, he was baptized at First Baptist Church of Moss Point and became an active member until his health declined.

He is preceded in death by his companion and wife of over 30 years, Valerie Byron; daughter, Trista Byron; 7 brothers and sisters. Malcolm is survived by his two sons, Clifton Byron and Shawn Tiller Sr.; 5 grandchildren, Jasmine Pope, Shawn Tiller, Jr., Hayley Tiller, Dylan Tiller, and Jake Byron; two sisters, Peggy Sexton and Rita Broussard; one great-grandchild expected in October.

Celebration of Life will be Friday, March 19, 2021, 11:00am, at First Baptist Church in Moss Point with Rev. Michael Perry officiating. Friends may visit at the church from 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his church in his memory.
