Marion Freeman Trehern

Our beautiful mother, Marion Freeman Trehern, 93, of Pascagoula, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, May 30, 2025.

Marion was born on October 13, 1931 in Pascagoula to Nonie and Howard Freeman. She graduated from Our Lady of Victories High School in1949. Marion was a devout Catholic and lifetime member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church.

She married Benton Trehern on September 7, 1952, and together they built a life filled with four children, whom she considered to be her greatest accomplishment. After working many years as a homemaker, Marion went to work at OLV Elementary School as the school secretary from 1971-1988.

Marion is remembered for her beautiful smile, loving heart and quick wit. She loved cooking, baking and cross stitching, but most of all, spending time with her family.

Marion was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 55 years, Ben, her brother, Jim Freeman, and her son-in-law John Nicklason. She is survived by her children, Judy (Rodney) Applegate, Jan (Dale) Hiestand, Karen Nicklason and Tim (Marian) Trehern; grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Bexley, Brian (Kassie) Nicklason and Kayla Trehern; great-grandchildren, Rilynn Nicklason and Baby Girl Bexley (arriving October 2025), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula from 12 pm - 2 pm, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, and all who knew and loved Marion are welcome to attend. Officiants will be Rev. Adam Frey, Rev. Tony Arguelles, Deacon Stephen O’Brien and Deacon Mike Gilly. 

Friends and family are invited to gather for a reception at Resurrection School cafeteria to celebrate Marion’s life immediately following graveside services.

Our family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to Brenda McDonald for her support, care and friendship to our mother over the past three years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Marion’s memory.
