Marshall Holyfield II, of Gautier, passed away on Monday, June, 9 2025 at the age of 71.
Marshall was born in Pascagoula, MS on January 10, 1954 to Orrey Holyfield Sr and Lorraine Mowery Holyfield.
Mashall’s real passion was serving the community. He was a member of many civic organizations, including the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and the Hattiesburg Association of Realtors. He was an honorary member of the Pearl River Board of Realtors ; member of the former East Gulf Coast Board of Realtors, where he received the first Affiliate of the year Award; member of the Biloxi- Ocean Springs Board of Realtors, where he served on the Awards Committee, Affiliate Committee, and MARPAC, and received the first Affiliate of the Year Award, then again two more times; member of the Gulf Coast Association of Realtors , serving on the MARPAC and the Community Development Committee for 12 years ( Serving as Chairman for 8 years), and helped with their golf tournament every year, which helped raise over $200,000 for charity; member of the MS Association of Realtors, where he worked on the Affiliate Committee, receiving the first Affiliate of the year for MS; member of MS MARPACHall of Fame; received Associate of the Year for the MS Gulf Coast and Southeast MS Home Builders Association. He served on the committee for Gautier Police Department where he helped raise $27,000. in 10 days to purchase Rocko, their first drug dog; served on the committee that started the Fall-da-Rah; served on the Gautier Pride Committee; served on the committee that brought Youth for Christ to Gautier Middle and High School. He helped form and served on the committee to honor Trent Lott.
Marshall was very active in youth sports, he umpired youth baseball and softball in Gautier and Ocean Springs for 30 years and coached Pee Wee Football and Biddy Basketball, girls’ and boys’ softball.
He was also an active member of First Baptist Church in Gautier where he served on various committees and was an honorary deacon.
He attended Pascagoula High School and worked at Delchamps from 1971-1991 where he advanced to store manager. Following that adventure he owned and operated Sofas and Such and Gulf Coast Publishing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Holyfield; sister, Judy Metts; a grandniece, Emily Hopkins.
He is survived by a son, Nicholas Adam Holyfield; three grandchildren, Scarlette and Zane Holyfield, Bailey Grafton; three brothers, Buddy (Sandra) Holyfield of Mt Olive, AL, Billy (Sandra ) Holyfield of Louisville, KY and Woodie (Debbie) Holyfield of Marietta, GA; a sister, Naomi (Ronnie) Thomas of McLain , MS; brother-in-law, Ray Metts of Smyrna, GA; 18 nieces and nephews and 18 grandnieces and nephews; special friends, Faye Terrell and the Zak Knox family.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the Pascagoula O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral Service will be Friday, June 13, 2025, at 10:00am at First Baptist Church in Gautier with Rev. Chad Ball and Rev. David Aultman officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery behind the church. You may send condolences to his family or share your memory or story of Marshall on the Tribute Wall. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of his Sunday School Class "Loose Cannons".
