Mary Cartee passed away on Tuesday June 4, 2019 in Pascagoula, MS.
Mary arrived on May 21, 1931 in Walker, AL, one of seven children born to Roscoe and Belle Stelman. She was a true grit kind of lady who believed in hard work. Mary could be hard as nails if life required it but she was as also soft as silk, this showed in her love for children. She loved to cook especially when making special treats for the children at church and detested a dirty dish in the sink. She retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding as a chipper. She was a faithful member to Ingalls Avenue Baptist Church, a great mother and true friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Charlie Newton Parker Sr and Verbon P. Cartee Jr; a son, Raymon Savell; siblings, James and Johnny Stelman, Jennie Duncan, Agnes Voss, and Bessie Williams.
She is survived by four sons, James V. Savell of Pascagoula, George F. Savell (Carolyn) of Washington State, James F. Savell (Debbie ) of Waggman, LA, and Charlie Parker Jr of Utah; daughter-in-law, Josie Savell of San Antonio, TX; a brother, Frank Stelman (Maria) of Jackson, MS; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild; her church family.
Funeral Service will be Saturday June 8, 2019 at 12noon at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula with visitation one hour prior to service. Private interment will be at Jackson County Memorial Park. Condolences may be expressed online at www.obryantokeefe.com.
