Mavis Carol Beech Willis passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023 in Gautier, MS.
Mavis was born on August 3, 1940 in Forrest County, MS to Troy Clinton and Violet Leo Beech. Throughout her life Mavis encountered rough patches but she always managed to work her way through the obstacles. She was never short on jobs working as an Avon representative, as an electrician at the shipyard, laundry mat associate, convenience store clerk, and caring for the elderly; she did what was necessary for she and her kids to survive. She was a wonderful seamstress, and enjoyed cross-stitching, crocheting, and cake decorating. She was always agreeable to whatever adventure her grandkids wanted. She enjoyed the grands ball games, cross country biking and racing. Being the excellent cook she was, Mavis tried to pass her culinary skills, to those grandchildren willing to learn.
When asked about her religion her response was, I am a Bapticostal. Despite the challenges of life, Mavis had a good heart, never complaining of the hand she was dealt and always pleasant demeanor and smile to share.
In addition to her parents, Mavis was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Thompson, infant brother, David Beech and great-granddaughter, Bella Ward; brothers-in-law, Charlie Thompson, and Rev Jerry Mixon.
She is survived by two children, Richard Rogers (Raynelle) of Mc Henry, MS and Ginger Killingsworth of Gautier, MS; sisters, Linda Bartley (Robert) of Clinton, MS and Vicki Mixon of Madison, MS; grandchildren, Rachael Ward (Josh), Brent Killingsworth (Lauren), Jerry Killingsworth (Mara), Richie Rogers, Lindsey Larison (Jason), and Jessica Overfield (Kyle) and Aurora Rogers; great grandchildren, Rigdon and Lydia Ward, Dylan Eli, Findley, Amelia, Chelsea, Raelynn and Josie Killingsworth, Joshua Larison and her extended family at River Chase Village and Turning Point United Pentecostal Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at Turning Point UPC on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 6 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service. Condolences can be expressed online at www.obryantokeefe.com.
