Maxine Killingsworth of Gulfport, MS departed this life for her heavenly home on Monday May 25, 2020 at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, LA surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 3, 1941 in Fort Necessity, LA to Otho and Ethel (Jones) Killingsworth and grew up in Pascagoula, MS. Some of her fondest memories were growing up in Jackson Ave Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.
She retired from Singing River Hospital and Singing River Mental Health Services as a medical transcriptionist. Maxine loved nothing more than working in her garden and tending to her beautiful flowers. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She was known for her great sense of humor and ability to laugh at herself.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Barousse ; brothers, Pete and Sonny Killingsworth.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her four children, Joni (Tom) Austin of Gulfport, MS , Lauri (Bob) Stovall of Grand Bay, AL, Scott (Leann) Miller of Helena, MS and Michele “Missy” Miller of Ocean Springs, MS ; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews , cousins, friends and her faithful companion, her dog Lacy.
A private graveside service will be held at Machpelah Cemetery as she is laid to rest beside her parents. Condolences may be expressed online at www.obryantokeefe.com
