Michael Dean Dunbar passed away on Wednesday March 18, 2026 in Pascagoula, MS.
Born at an AFB in Orlando, FL, on July 13, 1959, Michael, was destined to follow in the footsteps of his father. He was a East Central High School Graduate, Class of 1979. Michael served in the United States Air Force retiring, after 20 years of faithful service to our country. He continued to serve in a similar compacity as a security guard for Magnolia Security and later for DSI. He had a love and respect for guns and the purpose they were intended. Quiet by nature, Michael’s actions spoke volumes to those that crossed his path. Stories of his kindness and fun-loving nature continued to be shared by those that benefited from his helping hand in times of need. This patriot, brother, father and grandfather will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Betty Jean Dunbar, and a brother, David Ray Dunbar.
He is survived by a son, Jeremy Dunbar and his wife Cameron; two sisters, Barbara Miller (Clifton) and Melissa Elrod; grandchildren, Daylin, Baylee, Brayden, Davianna, and Abrianna; nieces and nephews, Tina Cole, Phillip Miller, Lynn Elrod, Thomas Elrod and Brad Elrod; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be at 11:30 on Friday, March 27, 2026 at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment with full military honors will conclude at Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Dunbar, Phillip Miller, Damion Cole, Daylin Dunbar, Brad Elrod, Thomas Elrod, Brayden Barnes and Shannon Lewis.
