Michael B. Scott

MICHAEL B. SCOTT, aka “Duke,” was born in Monroeville, AL on October 6, 1964, to Hattie Tolson Richardson and Hudson Scott, Jr.  He grew up in Monroeville and attended the Monroe County Schools, graduating from high school in 1985. Michael met Sarah Moore Scott in Moss Point MS, and on June 2, 1990, they were married.  To this union, three (3) children were born:  Michaela’ Marshay Scott, Michael Iven Scott, and Javon Markell Scott.

Michael was a faithful husband, father, brother, friend, and neighbor. He was loved by all who knew him.   He worked various jobs throughout his lifetime.  He worked at Rawhide’s Restaurant in Pascagoula, MS, for many years until he accepted employment with the Jackson County Maintenance Department and Recreation Department, where he was dutifully employed for the past thirty-four (34) years.  Michael was also an entrepreneur.  He owned and operated a professional lawn care business since 2005.  Unfortunately, Michael’s business was so successful, he had to turn down many offers for additional lawns.

Michael was preceded in death by Michaela’ Marshay Scott, his daughter; grandparents George and Pearlie Tolson, Sr. and Hudson and Ruby Scott, Sr.; sister-in-law Jovan Marshay Sylvester; grandparents-in-law Walter and Earlie B. Jimmerson.

Michael is survived by his wife of thirty-three (33) years, Sarah Moore Scott; sons Michael I. Scott and Javon M. Scott; parents Hattie T. Richardson and Hudson Scott, Jr.; brothers Allen (Kashanna) Richardson, Harold (Natalie) Tolson, Maurice (Kissiee) Scott; sister Makeva (Lloyd) Preyear; mother-in-law Flora Moore; brother-in-law Ivey Moore; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 9, 2023 at O'Bryant - O'Keefe Funeral Home Pascagoula, from 10:30am to 12:00pm, with Funeral Service to begin at 12:00pm.
