Michael Lee Snuggs Obituary

Michael Lee Snuggs, 75, of Gautier, died September 3, 2025, at home in the company of his family. Born December 8, 1949, in Jackson, he was the son of the late Wayman Snuggs, Bobbie Martin Snuggs, and stepmother Sarah McDonald Snuggs.

A certified public accountant, Mike had been employed at Wolfe McDuff Mallett CPA Firm and worked as a comptroller for Consolidated Pipe, City Lumber, and Bailey Homes.

Diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder in 1998, he was known to many as a good friend who never complained and never gave up, always keeping a cheerful demeanor. He continued to pursue the things he loved: beach trips, deep sea fishing, boating to Horn Island, dove hunting, and working out in the gym. He maintained many friendships with high school and college friends. And as always, without fail, supported his Mississippi State Bulldogs and the New Orleans Saints.

His love for sports began in his childhood when he played Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. After graduating from Murrah High School in 1967 he attended MSU where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order, Army ROTC, Scabbard and Blade, and Alpha Kappa Psi. He graduated in 1971 with a degree in accounting.

An active member of Gautier United Methodist Church, Mike served as a member of their Finance Committee for more than 40 years. Also involved in community work and fishing rodeos, he was a member of the Gautier Jaycees and Gautier Men’s Club for whom he reigned as King Altama during one carnival season in the late 1980s.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Lawrence Snuggs; his brother Wayne Snuggs and his wife, Betty, of Madison; his sister-in- law, Jill Hendrick and her husband, Roger, of Stillwater,OK; his brother-in-law, Jay Lawrence, and his partner, Amy Pragnell, of Old Hickory, TN; a nephew, David Snuggs of Jackson; nieces, Kristy Pace of Hattiesburg, and Holli Hendrick of Oklahoma; his sons Jeff Snuggs and his children, Michael Orlando and Ana Grace of Dallas, TX; and Clay Snuggs of Gautier; a daughter Caroline Imm and her husband, Paul, of Ramstein, Germany, and their daughters Eleanor Paige and Charlotte Paige.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to United Methodist Church of Gautier (P.O. Box127) or to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
