Mildred Falks

Mildred Marie Rigney Falks, age 77, of Pascagoula passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born December 31, 1942 in Wayne County, Mississippi and married Wiley Lavory Falks, Jr. on Dec. 15, 1962 in Waynesboro, Mississippi.

Mildred had her own business Mildred’s Child Care for over 30 years and retired just one month before Hurricane Katina in 2005. She attempted to write down all the names of the children and lost count at 100.

She was a very active member of Riverside Baptist Church in Pascagoula and enjoyed teaching the 5-year-old Sunday School Class, singing in the choir, and planning the activities for the senior citizens. 

Mildred enjoyed gardening and being entertained by her great grans or years of traveling around the county watching the grandsons play ball.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Daisy Rigney; son-in-law, Steve DeForrest; three brothers and three sisters, Columbus Landis Rigney; Elizabeth Rigney Marcum, Daisy Marie Rigney McCary, Marion Rigney Cooper, Charles Ellis Rigney, and Charles Leonard Rigney.

Mildred in survived by her husband of 58 years, Wiley Lavory Falks, Jr. Pascagoula; son, Wiley Falks, III (Angela), Hurley; daughter, Ronda Falks DeForrest, Pascagoula; five grandchildren, Lavory Falks (Kaitlin), Wyatt Falks (Fiance’, Madie Sparks), West Falks, Kendra DeForrest Summeral (Kyle) and Kelsey DeForrest; two great grandchildren, Travis “T.J.” and Kayla White; brother, Thomas Ellis Rigney; other relatives, friends and loving church family.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, 10:00-11:00am, at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Funeral Service begin at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel. Livestream of the Chapel Service will be on funeral home’s Facebook page.  Graveside Service will be at 2:30pm at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Chicora, MS. Due to COVID-19 concerns, masks will need to be worn and social distancing is necessary.
