Jean Ray Richards passed away at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday March 11, 2026 after a well-fought battle with Parkinson’s Dementia.
Jean Was born to Sherrie B. Richards, Sr and Mary Lee Richards on September 13, 1935 in Pascagoula, MS. A lifelong resident of Pascagoula and member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula, he graduated from, Our Lady of Victories High School, Class of 1953.
He served in Army National Guard and retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 43 years working in mechanical engineering and various managerial roles in that field. Jean was an avid boater and enjoyed the many bounties of the gulf including fishing, shrimping, oystering, and frequent outings to Horn, Petit Bois, and Round Island with his family. Jean prided himself on being the go to repairman for the extended family, friends, and neighbors. He leaves us with many cherished memories that will sustain us through the difficult days ahead.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherrie B. Richards, Sr and Mary L. Richards; siblings, Sherrie B. Richards, Jr., Bernard L. Richards, Sister M. Anthony Richards Kenneth Paul Richards, Alice A. “Ann” Miller, Donald L. Richards and Loren A. Richards.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Cora Loquieta Hillman Richards; children, Aundra’ Browne (Lillian), Ricky Browne (Freda), Jason Richards and Jana Ferrell (Bobby); siblings, his twin sister, Joan M. Mehal and Loraine A. “Cookie” Krebs; grandchildren, Jonathan Browne (Abby), Sara Caton (Drew). Angela Welty (Karl), April Richardson (Shaun), Glenn Ferrell (Blythe), Brenna Ferrell; seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church at 12 noon. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00-11:45. Family Eulogy will be shared with everyone attending at 11:45. Interment will conclude at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. Pallbearers will be Glenn Ferrell, Jonathan Browne, James Krebs, Keith Miller, Kevin Miller, and David Richards.
