Nancy Cook- Rouse Obituary

Nancy Jane Cook Rouse was born in Potsdam, NY on May 4, 1950 to the late James B. Cook, Sr and Marlyn A. Lindsley Cook.  She moved with her family to Pascagoula, MS when she was twelve years old and graduated from Pascagoula High School.  She met her dream guy, Jim Rouse, when she was at Pascagoula High School, even though he didn’t know it yet.  After High School she went to Beauty School and became a beautician.  She later reconnected with Jim and they got married.  Out of that marriage, they had three handsome boys.  She and Jim left MS with the family and moved to Gaffney, SC while Jim was employed as a traveling nurse.  While she was in SC, she decided to go back to school to become a mortician, but later became a certified nursing assistant instead.  She moved back to MS in 2020 as she had lost her true love and wanted to come back home.  She lived with her niece from the time that she moved down to her final days on earth.  She was a great daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many.

She left to join her loved ones in Heaven on May 23, 2024.  She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marlyn Cook, Sr, an infant brother that she never got to meet, her husband, James Rouse, Sr., a brother James Cook, Jr, nephew, James Cook, III, her sister, Carol Cook Hill Willard, brother in laws, Charles Willard and Raymond Hill, mother in law Thelma Rouse and sister in law Agnes “Dee” Rouse.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives, James Rouse, Jr of Moss Point,  Robert Rouse (Holley) of St. Louis, MO, and Michael Rouse (Jen) of Gaffney, SC.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Angelique Rouse of Ocean Springs and Skylar Byars-Turner of SC, sister in law, Barbara Cook Smith (Fred) of Pascagoula, her niece and caretaker Connie Bosarge (Chuck) of Lucedale, nieces Stacey Davis (Scott) of Seymour, TN, Tabitha Lowe (Ed) of Lucedale, Stephanie Willard of Gautier, nephew James Cook, IV of Lucedale, numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, special friend and Ride or Die, Michele Gallant (Paul) of Mims, Fl.

There will be a private family burial and memorial at a later date.

Nancy made the decision to be cremated and Her favorite saying was:

I’m finally going to get my HOT BODY when I leave this earth.
