Orvilla Moore

Ovilla K. Moore. Age 98, of Pascagoula, MS peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, on May 30, 2026 in Daphne, AL.

Ovilla was born on November 2, 1927 in Moss Point, MS. She was born focused, feisty and full of life. These characteristics served her well over the years and probably contributed to her
longevity. She was one of a kind. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pascagoula for 30 years, then transferred to Eastlawn United Methodist Church after Hurricane Katrina. Ovilla worked as an administrator at Ingalls Shipbuilding for over 40 years. She had nimble fingers that could fly over the keyboard while typing all of the transcripts and manuals in the 1970’s thru 1990’s. She retired in 1995 and enjoyed her retirement years. Some of her favorite memories came from walks at the Pat Wilson Jogging Track. She logged many thousands of miles there encouraging others to lose weight while exercising and enjoying nature. She enjoyed driving to Biloxi, MS on Saturdays to shop at Gayfers and eat at BB’s in Ocean Springs. Her daily visits to Jerry Lee’s and Sav Rex Drugs kept her busy. She had many lasting friendships and the people she met were extensions of her family. She also loved going to her doctor visits, ambulance rides and the ER at Singing River Hospital. I am so thankful for the city of Pascagoula and all of the community that took such good care of little Ovilla. Her calling was having her opinion and convincing you to have it too. It was a gift she gave freely and even in her final days, it brought smiles to her family, nursing staff and hospice caretakers. These qualities were woven into her being until her final breath and she remained a firecracker until the end. May she Rest in Peace and enjoy Heaven with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norvell Bernard and Mary Estella Rogers, her siblings, Josa Lee Rogers and Anna Laverne McLeod Von Kanel. She is survived by her children, John N. Stovall and Joanna Boguski (Kenneth); four grandchildren, Brandon L. Stovall (Carrie), Laura R. Hardy (Jess), Lane A. Boguski, Ian P. Boguski and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to give thanks to the Nursing staff at Eastern Shore Rehabilitation in Daphne, AL and Southern Care Hospice of Fairhope, AL for providing such loving care to their little “grandma” in her final days.
