Osie Moore Obituary

Osie Ray Moore passed away at the age of 86 on Monday, August 17, 2020.                                                    

Born August 25, 1933 to Osie Walker and Ruth Lillian Moore in Pelican, LA.  Graduated from Mansfield High School, served as Sp3 in the United States Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He traveled over the United States with Pipeline construction prior to settling in Gautier and working with Ingalls for 38 years as a Crane Operator/ Supervisor.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and many friends. Ray was a man of integrity who was fair and straight forward to those he dealt with, but he could also be a teddy bear with a huge heart. 

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Moore, daughter, Cheryl Wolverton and grandson, Corey Vaughan.

He is survived by Siblings; Martha Lee Jackson, Jerrie Sue Holland (Curtis), George “Butch” Lynn Moore. Children; Lorretta Vaughan (Clark) of Gautier, MS, Rae Lynn Stone (Fred) of Bayou Gauche, LA, Teresa Fitzgerald of Gautier, MS, Lisa Moore of Gautier, MS and Daryl Roth (Susie).  Grandchildren; Casey Vaughan, Missy Hunt, Charla McKee (Brent), Lillian Noble, Kelva Noble, Briana Vaughan, Carrie Cole, Jamie Toney, Ray Ladnier (Stacey), Lee Milligan (Bella), Daniel Roth (Mychal), Melissa Wolverton Dye, Chad Wolverton (Erin), Brandi Gunter (Bo) and Kristin Page Short (Chris). Had 26 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Much heartfelt thanks and appreciation to his close friend, companion and caregiver (sidekick), Alice Pitts of Gautier, MS.

Due to COVID-19 all of his services will be privately held. The family will have a service at Gautier O’Bryant O’Keefe Funeral Home with burial at Biloxi National Cemetery with Military Honors. Friends may watch his service livestream Friday, August 21, 2020 at 12 noon on the O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home’s face book page and express their condolences online at www.obryantokeefe.com.
