Peggy Joyce Jones Martin, of Pascagoula, MS passed away March 19 th , 2023, surrounded by family members on the feast of Saint Joseph who is known as the patron saint of departing souls. She was a kind and giving soul with an infectious smile. She will be missed and remembered by the many lives she helped and touched. A devout catholic, she attended daily mass and enjoyed the after mass social with her friends. As a volunteer at schools, churches, St Vincent de Paul, Singing River Hospital, along with other charities gave her great satisfaction she was making a difference. She was very active with her bridge club and the women organization, 20 st Century Women Club. Peggy Martin was born Peggy Joyce Jones in Oct 1934 to the late Wallace “W. L.” Jones Sr and Lillian Marie Benezue Jones in Tuscaloosa, AL. Peggy was the younger sister of the late Wallace “W. L.” Jones Jr and surviving sister Jean Jones Blair.
She was preceded in death by her late husband C. C. “Bill” Martin. They were married May 12 th , 1949, and lived most of their lives in Pascagoula, MS where she was a traditional wife while supporting Bill with his business.
Peggy is survived by her four children: Linda Ethridge (John), of Vancleave MS; Eddie Martin, of Pascagoula MS; Charles Martin (Marie), of Mobile AL; and Gene Martin (Stephanie), of Mobile AL. She is also survived by grandchildren: Michael Ethridge (Arinne), Katie Ethridge, Dominic Martin, Chris Martin, Aaron Martin, Rachael Martin Smith (Harrison), Chloe Martin, Nickolas Martin, Michael Martin, Collin McAdams, and Sarah McAdams.
A Mass of Christian Burial Service will begin on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 1:00pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pascagoula. Friends may visit with the family from 12 noon - 1:00pm at the church.
