David Bardwell, born August 5, 1952, passed away on March 22, 2026, at 12:45 a.m. after a long and courageous 13-year battle with illness.
David loved life in his own way. He was a devoted New Orleans Saints fan and a big admirer of Archie Manning—rarely missing a game. He also loved the music he grew up with, which brought him comfort and joy throughout his life. He had a natural gift for making people laugh, and his sense of humor will be remembered by everyone who knew him. He found happiness in the simple things, especially spending time with his dog Scooter and working in his garden.
David also worked for Mississippi Chemical and Mississippi Wastewater, where he dedicated many years of service.
David was a loving brother, a proud father, and a good friend to many. He had a kind heart and left a lasting impression on those around him.
He is survived by his son, Jason Bardwell; mother to his son, Saray Rushing; his grandchildren, Max Bardwell and Lucy Bardwell; his mother, Mrs. Kitty Bardwell; his brother, Gary Bardwell; his sister, Trudy Bardwell; his nephews, Brandon Bardwell, Channing Lunsford, and Mathew Lunsford; and many friends who will miss him deeply. He is also remembered by his cousins Becky Freeman, Teri Yount, and Leighann Hart.
He was preceded in death by Jessie Bardwell, Rudy Bardwell, and his cousin Larry Penton.
David will be remembered for his laughter, his loyalty, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Jessie Bardwell Scholarship at First Methodist Church in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
