In 1967 he began the OLV Inner League Basketball program that was made up of four boys and four girls teams. The league continued until 1976. He coached the athletes of OLV Elementary 1st through 6th grades in various track and field events preparing for “Field Day” against the three other Catholic Elementary Schools in Jackson County from 1963-1973. In 2017 he was honored in the initial class of recipients into the Our Lady of Victories/ Resurrection Catholic High School Hall of Fame.

In 1987 his focus shifted to his granddaughters where he was found watching them play softball, basketball, volleyball and soccer, and of course dance.
