Richard "Buck" Rutland

Richard “Buck” Rutland, age 73,  of Pascagoula passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula. He was born November 28, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas and was a resident of this area since 1961.

Buck graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1969 and worked an electrical apprenticeship with the City of Pascagoula for a number of years.  He later started his business “Buck’s Electric” and served the community for over 40 years.  He was a member of Arlington Baptist Church in Pascagoula.

He enjoyed deep sea fishing, golfing, reading his bible, and spending time with his family and friends.  He devoted his life serving others with a true servant’s heart and strived to live a life of giving more with no expectation of anything in return- many times just insisting nothing in return.   

Buck is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Leon Rutland and Mary Jo Sharp Rutland; former wife, Joan Rutland; sister, Pam Rutland.

He is survived by his two sons, Ryan Matthew Rutland (Amber), Huntsville, AL; Jon Shelton Rutland, Pascagoula; grandson, Parker Karl Green; sister, Kim May; numerous other relatives and great friends.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday, March 29, 2025, 12:00-1:00pm at Arlington Baptist Church in Pascagoula. Memorial Service will be at 1:00pm with Rev. Michael Wilkinson officiating.    

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon International or Arlington Baptist Church in Buck’s memory.  You may send condolences to his family or share your memory of Buck on the Tribute Wall.
