Obituary

Rose Nesheim Greiczek Cardinali passed away on February 18, 2023. She was the wife of Augustus Cardinali, also deceased, and the daughter of Melvin Alfred Nesheim and Marjorie Jeffries Nesheim, both deceased. Rose is survived by her sisters, Ruth Curtis and Jan (Clyde) Charbonneau, brothers, Vince (Melinda) Nesheim and Don Nesheim. She was predeceased by her brother, David Nesheim. She is also survived by her two daughters, Cindy Gilliam and Sandra Sekul, and three grandchildren, Jacob Thomas Gilliam, Ally Marie Gilliam, Francena Rose Sekul and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are the daughters that "lived in her heart", Robin Spivey Schenk, Lisa Spivey, Christina Butera Minter and Gladys Lacour Weiss.

Rose graduated in 1961 from Philip High School in South Dakota. Later in life, she fulfilled her dream of going to college and graduated from MS Gulf Coast Community College in 1991 with an Associate of Arts degree. After high school, she married Tom Greiczek, who was in the Air Force, and they lived in South Dakota until Tom was transferred to Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS in 1966. With two young children in tow, they picked up and moved South! Rose had a variety of careers over the years; a cocktail waitress at Gus Stevens Supper Club, a legal secretary with Don King's law firm in Biloxi, accounts payable clerk at Keesler AFB, an ERA real estate agent in GA, restaurant owner (Cardi's in Riverdale, GA) with her husband, Gus, co-manager (also with Gus) of Surfside Resort in Destin, FL  and a brief stint as a photographer. Her longest running and most fulfilling occupation, however, was that of proprietor of Sioux Bayou Fish Camp in Gautier, MS. In that role, she oversaw every aspect of the business - property rental, maintenance, bar operations, bookkeeping and the seemingly constant task of hurricane preparation and then clean up. She was also a confidant to many and always available to listen, commiserate and give advice."Ms. Rose" could often be seen walking the grounds with first Shunka, and then Nopa, her beloved canine companions.

A memorial will be held on March 11th, 2023 at Sioux Bayou Landing in Gautier, at 2:00 and continuing as long as people are there to share their favorite stories. She will be buried on April 22, 2023 at Deep Creek Lutheran Church in Midland, SD, following a 1:00 service at Rush Funeral Home in Philip, SD.
