Samuel Andrew (Sammy) Leslie, Jr. age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, in Ocean Springs, MS.  Sammy was born on January 25, 1932, in Pascagoula.  He graduated from Moss Point High School in 1950 and later received his Bachelor’s Degree from LSU.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean conflict.   Sammy retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in 1994 after 36 years and was a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church for over 75 years.  He enjoyed watching baseball, LSU football, and was an avid fan of the Matlock TV show.  He also enjoyed photography, genealogy, and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, June Elizabeth Flowers Leslie; his parents, Samuel Andrew Leslie, Sr. and Etta Katherine Bosarge Leslie; sister, Dorothy Lou Leslie Perek and brother, Carl D. Leslie.

Sammy is survived by two sons and two daughters, Samuel A. “Andy” Leslie III (Michelle), Scott Leslie (Ann), Gail Leslie Martin, and Julie Leslie; five grandchildren, Lauren Butler (Justin), Samantha Jones (Josh), Matthew Martin (Rainey), Adam Martin, Jack Leslie; and four great grandchildren, Alexa Martin, Bruin Martin, Katherine Jones, and Aubrey Butler.

The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation and gratitude to the management and staff at the Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Ocean Springs for your tireless efforts and dedication in making our father’s final days comfortable and peaceful.  He was treated with compassion and dignity and we are very much grateful.

Visitation will be on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, 10:00am- 12 noon, at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula.  Funeral Mass will begin at 12 noon at the church and committal service will follow at Jackson County Memorial Park Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to go to The Special Olympics in his memory.   You may send condolences to his family or share a memory on the Tribute Wall.
