Samuel Herman Weil, 84, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, at his home in Gautier, MS after a lengthy illness.
Born in Gainesville, Florida, Sam proudly served in the United States Air Force before graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in electrical engineering. He went on to a long and distinguished career as an engineer, contributing to the historic Apollo moon program with NASA at the Kennedy Space Center, and later spending many dedicated years with Ingalls Shipbuilding.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Jaffious (“Red”) and Mattie Weil; his brother, William; his sister, Janet: grandsons, Jonathon Schwartz and Robert Jaffious Weil; and his beloved wife, Beverly. He is survived by Nancy, his wife of twenty-five years, four children- Lisabeth, Melissa, Joe, and Jennifer, his sister Sharon, and grandchildren.
Sam found joy in golf, fishing, genealogy, photography, eating oysters, and riding his tractor. Above all, he cherished time spent with family. He was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather whose kindness, steady presence, and willingness to help with be remembered by all who knew him. Sam always made time to call, visit, and lend a hand whenever he was needed.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church Gautier at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, with a brief visitation from 6:00-6:30 p.m at the church.
