Mrs. Sandra Perkins Smith passed away at her home on Friday July 5, 2024, at the age of 78. Born September 24, 1945 in Moss Point, MS to Richard Earl and Clotilde Stauter Perkins, she was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She was a graduate of Moss Point High School and attended Ole Miss for two years before returning home and securing a position in the banking industry at First Federal Savings and Loan. She married the love of her life Tommy E. Smith on July 1, 1966 in Moss Point, MS. Together, they raised two children Glynis and Kyle, they were two of her greatest joys. Sandra spent many years working in bank administration before she retired. She was raised Baptist and remained grounded in her faith until the end. She enjoyed cooking and remodeling every home she and Tommy ever purchased. Sandra was an expert on all sports, especially the Mississippi State Bulldogs. She loved her morning coffee on the back porch or in her sunroom, above all she loved and cherished her family and was best known as Mae for the past 34 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother; Richie Perkins and brother-in-law, Jim Miles.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years and her devoted care giver of late, Tommy E. Smith of Ocean Springs, MS; daughter Glynis Gutherz and her husband Robert “Boo” of Ocean Springs, MS; son Kyle Smith and his wife Barry of Homewood, AL; brother Weldon Perkins his wife Pam of Ocean Springs, MS; sister Debbie Miles of Ocean Springs, MS; sister-in-law Marty Perkins of Moss Point, MS; five grandchildren, Elizabeth McDonough (Scott), Shelby Geboy (Tommy), Tess Stockdale (James), Thomas Smith and Hardy Smith; great grandchildren, Eliza McDonough, Harvey Stockdale, Millie Jo Geboy, Hattie McDonough, Delilah Stockdale. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
