Sarah Ann Luke Holder, 88, died November 9, 2021 in Ocean Springs, MS.
She was born in Meridian on November 30, 1932 and graduated from Meridian High School in 1951. She enjoyed attending many MHS Reunions with her classmates. She has been a resident of Pascagoula since 1955, where all three of her children were born and raised. She attended Jackson Co. Jr. College/MS Gulf Coast Community College. She was retired as Manager of Finance, Pascagoula Schools with twenty five years of service in 1994. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Pascagoula, where she has served on many committees including finance, personnel, budget and building committees which was responsible for the East and West Wing additions. She had served on the Board of Directors of the Pascagoula School Employees Federal Credit Union and as Secretary of the board. She was a past member of Mississippi Association of School Business Officials (MASBO) and had served as president of a local Parent Teacher Association and elected to serve two terms as president of the Pascagoula PTA City Council.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gains A. “Bill” Holder, Sr., her parents, Maggie Velma Fleming Luke and Chester Lee Luke of Meridian; brothers, Raymond Dewayne Luke, Sr. of Gulfport and Jerry Lee Luke of Chunky, MS.
Survivors include: daughter, Beverly (Jepthy) Smith of Las Vegas, NV; Granddaughter Christina Bryant Touzan of Windon, MN and great grandson, Mathew Touzan of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Teresa “Terri” (Jerry) Henley of Vancleave, MS; granddaughter Amber (Kris) Morrell and great grandsons, Jack and Luke Morrell of Hattiesburg, MS; son, Gains A. (Linda)Holder of Pascagoula, MS; Granddaughter Alisha (Mike) Churchfield of Reno, NV; granddaughter, Angie (Chad) Wooten and great grandson Holder Wooten of Florence, MS; Sister-in-law Johnnie Jean Luke of Chunky, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 2:00pm at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 4811 Telephone Road in Pascagoula. Visitation is one hour before service time. Burial with be at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
The family prefers memorials to First Baptist Church, 902 Live Oak Avenue, Pascagoula, MS 39567, or the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers. The family would like to express their gratitude to Lighthouse Assisted Living and Memory Care in Ocean Springs and Notre Dame Hospice for their special care given to Sarah.
