Shelly Renee Rasmussen

Shelly Rene Rasmussen, 58, of Baytown, Texas passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, on September 16, 1966, growing up traveling the world with her family. Shelly was the loving daughter of Robert and Janet Rasmussen.

She is survived by her father Robert (Bill) L. Rasmussen, brother William (Billy) L. Rasmussen, sister, Stefanie Toungate, Brother-in-law Darrell Toungate, niece Ashley M. Rasmussen, nephew Tylor Reed and his wife Lindsey Reed and her great nephew’s Tobias Reed and Atlas Reed, and many loving family and friends who will forever hold her memory close.

Shelly was preceded in death by her mother Janet Pol Rasmussen, grandparents William H. & Burnice M. Rasmussen, Miguel L. & Mary E. Pol.

Shelly was born with special needs, and though her journey was uniquely different, her resilience, kindness, and joyful spirit was unmatched. Being a beautiful soul, Shelly brought warmth, love and light into the lives of everyone she encountered. Her life was a testament to the power of love, acceptance and beauty of individuality and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

The Family wishes to send special love and thanks to Joy Davis, Ms. Bessie and Ms. Kesha, Shelly’s caregivers, for many years. You loved Shelly as if she were your own child, for that we are deeply appreciative.  

Pall Bearers will be William Rasmussen (Brother), Tylor Reed (Nephew), Richard Rasmussen (Uncle), Ric Rasmussen (Cousin), Guy Martin (Cousin), Carl (Bubba) Wyatt Jr. (Cousin) and Con Wyatt (Cousin).

Visitation will be February 22, 2025, 1:00-2:00pm at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.  Funeral Service will be at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Eugene Eubanks officiating.   She will be laid to rest by her mother at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
