Sherry Ann Wilson was born on July 14, 1956, and passed from this world to eternity with Jesus on Saturday, August 31, 2024. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, Mississippi, living in Vancleave, as a child, and moving with her family to Pascagoula in the late 60s. She attended Colmer Junior High School, and graduated with honors from Pascagoula High School in 1974.
Sherry was a member of the High Jinx Social Club, serving as an officer, and also a member of many clubs at the high school. She was an avid tennis player and on the tennis team. Being well liked at school, she was voted homecoming queen during the 1973 football season. She was also an excellent seamstress and made her own homecoming formal.
After graduating high school, and graduating from Ole Miss with honors, she attended and finished law school at Ole Miss, practiced in Colorado, and then moved home to work with the Jackson County D.A.’s office in Pascagoula. She returned home at last to live in Vancleave on her family’s long held property.
Sherry had a big heart and loved all of God’s creation. She often stood for the rights of children as an attorney, and animals as a citizen. She even put her life at risk to save a young puppy left chained to a tree. She truly exemplified God’s love for us. She will be sorely missed by her neighbors, friends, and family.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Otis and Cammie Wilson, parents, Kenneth, and Iris Wilson, and her sister, Katherine Wilson.
She is survived by her brother, Dennis (Debroah) Wilson, her nephew, Michael Boren, and many other relatives.
Any contributions in her memory can be made to Bonnie Chapel United Methodist Church, 10001 Wire Rd., Vancleave, MS, 39565. You may send condolences to her family or share a memory of her on the Tribute Wall.
