On May 12, 2025, just one day before his 69th birthday, Stephen Harbison Breland, passed away at his home.
Stephen was born on May 13, 1956 in Pascagoula, MS to Vinson and Audrey Breland. He met and married Peggy Soljan Breland and together they raised two children, Matthew and Samantha.
Stephen was always the provider for his family, working as a chemical operator for First Chemical for 25 years and later Chevron
for 13 years before retiring in 2014. As the song says, he was a small town southern man, with simple values. Family was always first, whether as a soccer coach, shooting at the target range, or a family trip, his children and grands were number one. His sudden loss caught us off guard but our minds are filled with wonderful memories that death cannot steal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his soul mate, Peggy Breland in 2007.
He is survived by his children, Matthew Breland (Danielle) and Samantha Savage (Josh) all of Pascagoula; siblings, Bert Breland (Rene) and Sandra Morgan (J.B.); grandchildren, Drake Harbison Savage, Kimmarie Rose Savage, and Riley Faye Breland; numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, May 16 from 11 am til 12 noon at O’Bryant- O’Keefe Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at noon. Interment will conclude at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Grand Bay, AL.
