Stephen Martinez

Stephen Hillman Martinez passed away at his home in Moss Point, MS. on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the age of 70.

To many he was “Stevie”, to his father he was Tee-Rock, but everyone knew him as a fun-loving free spirit.  He was born in Pascagoula, MS on September 11, 1952 to Edwin “Eddie” Mark Martinez, Sr and Hazel Mae Gibson Martinez Vaughan. He was a lifelong member of St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Moss Point, MS. He held many jobs over the years but the common thread was customer service. He loved people and they loved him. It was hard to find something he did not enjoy.  Stevie loved life; motorcycling, all water sports but particularly, barefoot skiing, traveling seeing the world and meeting people. It is hard to believe he is gone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Bruce Martinez and stepfather, Hal Gautier Vaughan, Sr. and his precious fur baby Cindy Lou.

He leaves behind siblings, Edwin M. Martinez, Jr. (Susan) of Pascagoula, MS., Dixie Copia of Ocean Springs, MS., Paula Lockard (James) of Vancleave, MS., Hal Gautier Vaughan, Jr. (Kimberly) of Fountainbleau, MS., Clark Vaughan (Lorretta) of Gautier, MS., sister-in-law, Linda Martinez of Missouri City, TX. and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many precious dear lifelong friends.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, MS. at 2 p.m. with Father Peter Varghese officiating.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors, nurses and medical staff for the compassionate care they gave him over the years.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society in Pascagoula, MS. or the charity of your choice in his honor.
