Steve DeForrest Obituary

Steve DeForrest, age 59, of Pascagoula passed away on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020. He was a born April 14, 1961 in Pascagoula and was the oldest of 7 children of Jack and Janet DeForrest. He graduated in 1979 from Our Lady of Victories in Pascagoula.  Steve was a former estimator of JAD Construction, former Executive Director of Operations for Global Tel-Link in Mobile for 28 years and Designer at Ingalls Shipbuilding.

Steve was actively involved in Mobile Mardi Gras since 2014 as a well-respected member of Order of Inca and a Marshal of Order of Polka Dots.

He was a true outdoors man enjoying fishing, hunting, kayaking, golfing, and his family especially enjoyed his natural skill for Cooking.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jack DeForrest; maternal grandparents, Alley Joseph and Stella Walker; paternal grandmother, Hilja Lehtinen DeForrest.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Ronda Falks DeForrest; twin daughters, Kendra DeForrest Summerall  (Kyle), Moss Point; Kelsey DeForrest, Pascagoula; mother, Janet DeForrest, Pascagoula; two grandchildren, Travis Lee “T.J.” White and Kayla Marie White; four sisters and two brothers, Linda Marshall (Greg), Hurley; Jackie Skelton (Kevin), Pascagoula; Jerry DeForrest (Kim), Forrest, MS; Helen Fortenberry (Jerald), Ocean Springs; Patty Dale (Mike), Gautier; David DeForrest, San Diego, CA; parents-in-law, Wiley and Mildred Falks, Jr, Pascagoula; brother-in-law, Wiley Falks (Angela), Hurley; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and great friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, 6:00-8:00pm, at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, 2:00pm, at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula with Father Adam Urbaniak officiating. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point, MS. Pallbearers will be Jacob,Cody,and Cameron DeForrest, Wyatt, Lavory, and West Falks. Honorary will be Shelby Fortenberry and Adam Marshall.

Because of the concerns of COVID-19, masks will be required to be worn and social distancing during the visitation and funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Charity of your choice.
