Susan Rogers Parol passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Susan was born to Dr. David and Virginia Rogers on October 6, 1948 in Memphis, TN and was raised in Drew, MS. She graduated Class of 1966 from Drew High School. Even in the early years she excelled and showed leadership ability. While in school Susan was a majorette, President of The Thespian Society and Senior Beauty. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA in 1996. She retired from AT&T in 1998 as a global project manager. Susan also served as Past President of Gautier Pride, Past President of Gautier Civitan, and Past Chairperson of Gautier Mullet and Music Fest for four years. She served as past officer in the Gautier Garden Club and member of the Jackson County Republican Women. In addition, Susan served on the board of the Jackson County Republican Club, was past state director of Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue, and has served as a Civil Service Commissioner since 2009.
Although she was deeply involved in the community, she always made time for her family; husband Ralph, six children, 12 grandchildren, five yorkies and three cats. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and of course she loved the beautiful water along the Gulf Coast.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband of 39 years, Ralph Parol of Gautier, MS; children, Virginia Bergeron (Jeb) of Placida, FL; Samantha Harris (Chris) of Portland, ME ; Frederick Shaidnagle (Keeley) of Olive Branch, MS; David Shaidnagle of Southaven, MS; Sean Parol of D’Iberville, MS; and Teresa Massingill of Ocean Springs, MS; siblings, Melinda Sweeney (Bob) of Cordova, TN; and David Rogers Jr (Toni) of Hernando, MS; grandchildren, Ashley Sweet (Tyler Weiss), Britney Sweet (David Carson), Miranda Bergeron, Drew Harris , Paiton Harris (Scotty Bresette), Christopher Shaidnagle, Evan Shaidnagle, Braiden Shaidnagle, Emersyn Shaidnagle, Evalynn Shaidnagle, Jeret Beck and Jonah Beck; great grandson, Miles Carson.
Visitation will be Friday, April 8, 2022 from 3-5 pm at Gautier O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home with funeral service to follow in the chapel at 5 pm. Deacon Billy Shaidnagle will be officiating. Internment will conclude at Surette Cemetery in Arkabutla, MS at 3 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2022.
