Susan Jean Ezell Obituary

Susan Jean Ezell passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the age of 72. Susan was born November 12, 1953, in West Palm Beach FL to Sidney Howard and Betty Jean Ezell. She was a graduate of Delta State University and began her teaching career at Greenville High School as a foreign language teacher. Susan concluded her teaching career as a longtime teacher in the Pascagoula School Systems, serving as sponsor of the Class of “83. Her love and passion for helping others went beyond the classrooms. Her compassion reached every life she came in touch with, if only for a moment. She was a ray of sunshine with a quirky sense of humor, quick witted and fierce determination.

Susan was a dedicated and active member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary teacher organization, for nearly 44 years. She faithfully served in numerous leadership roles, including Tau Chapter President three biennia, State President from 1992 to 1994, and International Vice President of the Gulf Region from 1999 to 2001. She found great joy in contributing to the organization at every level, serving both as a chair and as a member of many committees. Susan was also serving as the Board President of Promiss Friends and organization she was passionate about. She volunteered at the Singing River Hospital Cancer Unit as a Chemo Sabay.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Pascagoula for years where she shared her many talents including singing in the choir. She also used her voice to bless the residents of Riverchase Village with the Celebration Singers of Gautier First Baptist Church. This warrior fought and overcame cancer twice before being diagnosed with leukemia a month ago. But for all those who believe, we know she won her greatest victory when she breathed her final breath.
She was preceded in death by her parents and survived by her siblings; Mike Ezell and his wife Suzette, Sherri Ezell, and Terri Ezell Adams and her husband Bill; nieces and nephews Patrick “JP” Williams, Alan Williams, Christopher Adams, Will Adams, Amy Ezell Dennis and husband Coby; and great niece, Sidney Dennis; her Alpha Delta Kappa sisters and her First Baptist Church family.
