Thomas James “Tommy” Smith, age 70, of Pascagoula, Mississippi passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025. Tommy was born in Pascagoula on August 25, 1954 and was a lifelong resident of Jackson County.
He graduated from Moss Point High School in 1973. After graduation, he worked at Merchants Cash Grocery until its closure and various other businesses in Jackson County.
Tommy had a childlike spirit and enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved bird watching, nature, flower gardening, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Deborah Ray Smith; his parents, Terrill Sr and Dorothy Kunitz Smith; sister, Dorothy Joan Smith; brother, Terrill H. Smith, Jr; father and mother-in-law, John Raymond and Josephine Ray; sister-in-law, Denise Nelson.
Tommy is survived by his sisters, Betty Smith and Mary Ann Smith, Vancleave; sister-in-law, Gai Smith, Vancleave; beloved nieces, Dr. Tara (Jonathan)Festa, JoAnna (Paul) Herring; Laura (Derek) Shoemake, great nephews, Hayes Festa, Cole Herring, and Carter Shoemake; great-nieces, Sutton Festa, Riley Shoemake, and Collins Herring; brother-in-law, Dale (Amy) Ray; aunt, Annemarie Smith and numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside Service will be Friday, July 11, 2025 at 10:00am at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa.
