Thomas Lee Vervaeke passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the age of 80.
Thomas was born on May 14, 1944 in Evans, Washington to Robert and Mary Verveake. The family moved to Ocean Spring in 1960. He graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1962 and was on the State Championship Basket Ball Team in 1961. He received an Associate degree from Perkinston Junior College. Thomas began working for International Paper in 1962 and continued there until it closed in 2001. He moved to Pascagoula in 1963 and soon after met his true love, Ginger Prevost and on October 15, 1971 they became one. He was a dedicated member of the Pascagoula County Club, so much so that he had a spot reserved just for him, when he was not in that spot, he was on the course. He was also a beloved member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a loving, easy-going, and loyal friend and family member. He was a hero to his children and a moral compass for those around him. We cherish the many fond memories we have of this wonderful man.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Vervaeke and his brother-in-law and friend Kenneth Robertson.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginger” Vervaeke; children, Thomas Ray Vervaeke (Diane), Dana Leigh Grimsley (Jason), William Chesley Vervaeke(Melanie), and Wendy Catherine Vervaeke (Brandon); a brother, William Allen Vervaeke (Sharon) and sister-in-law Jo Vervaeke.
