Thomas Jeremy Hays born September 27, 1978, a beloved husband, son, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeremy was a man of immense passion and kindness, known for his love of the outdoors, his dedication to family, and his generous spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father, Greg Hays by 31 days. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rev. Bennie and Bonnie Hays; maternal grandparents, Thomas C and Juanita Essary.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Reed Hays; children, Madelynn (Noah) Parnell, Mallory Hays (Daulton Waldrop), and Macey Hays; step-children, Marley (Jackson) Martin and Rain Werner; mother, Jan Hays; sister, Traci (Sammy) White; grandchildren, Korbin, Kannin, and Kodi Kate Parnell; nephews, Hayden and Jansen White; niece, Amelia White; mother of his children; Allison Foster Hays; cousins that were more like brothers, Keith and Kelvin Watkins; numerous aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.
Jeremy found his greatest joy surrounded by nature. Whether he was hunting, fishing, traveling, or cooking up a meal for his family and friends, he poured his heart into every moment. He cherished days spent on the water, boating in the creek—a place where he felt at peace. The open water was his sanctuary, a place where he connected with the world around him.
Above all, Jeremy loved his girls and grandbabies, always keeping them at the center of his life. One of his final conversations was with the men in his daughters’ lives, making sure they would care for his girls as lovingly as he did. His deep love for family will remain a legacy of strength and devotion for those he leaves behind.
Jeremy was known for his boundless generosity, always willing to help a friend, neighbor, or anyone in need. His kindness touched countless lives, and he was deeply loved by many. Even as his illness kept him from his favorite activities, he kept his light-hearted spirit, watching Judge Judy with a smile.
Jeremy’s life was filled with love, laughter, and resilience. His memory will live on through his family and friends, who will forever cherish the moments they shared with him.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Pentecostals of the Gulf Coast from 12-2pm. The Funeral Service will follow at 2pm. Interment will conclude at Shiloh Cemetery in Vancleave, MS.
