Trijetta Cropp Obituary

Trijetta Gibson Cropp, age 83, of Moss Point passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025 in Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula.  She was born October 5, 1941 in Newton, Mississippi. and has been a long time resident of this area. 

Trijetta graduated from Moss Point High School in 1960 and received her Bachelors Degree in Music from University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.  She was a music teacher for Escatawpa Elementary for over 25 years and retired in 1996. In her home, she taught private piano lessons to many students for 15 years.

Trijetta was an active member of First Baptist Church in Helena and was the faithful church pianist for 47 years. She sang in the choir, member of Sunday School Class, and she loved her church family.

She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, cooking, and in last few years watching game shows on the television.  She will be missed by everyone that knew her and loved her.

Mrs. Cropp is preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Ernest Cropp; parents, Claude Demetris Gibson, Sr and Hazel Reynolds Gibson Howse; step-father, Harold “Dick” Howse; brother, Demetris “Hoot” Gibson; nephew, Darryl Gibson.

She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Demisha Gum (Jason), Ocean Springs; two granddaughters that she adored, Victoria “Tori” Gum and K’Lee Brooke Gum, both of Ocean Springs; two special sisters-in-laws, Diane Gibson, Hattiesburg and Earline Hughes, Grand Bay, AL; numerous other relatives, friends, and loving church family.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2025, 11:00am-1:00pm at First Baptist Church in Helena, 6308 Wildwood Road.  Funeral Service will begin at 1:00pm with Rev. Bill Parmer officiating.  Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa, MS

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to her church, First Baptist Church in Helena.

Pallbearers will be Jared Ladner, Davis Gibson, Bennett Gibson, Elton Hughes, Matt Bradshaw, and Caden Bradshaw. Honorary Pallbearers will be Todd Gibson, Cullon Bates, Michael Bates, Ray Bates, and Jason Gum.
