Virginia Eselin Obituary

 

Virginia Lloyd Eselin formerly of Pascagoula passed away at her home in Pantego, TX on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the age of 83.

 

Virginia was born March 14, 1936 in Columbus, MS to Joseph C. and Virginia Foster Lloyd. She attended the Mississippi University of Women and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts.  Virginia taught art in the public schools of Dallas, Texas, and Columbus, Moss Point, and Pascagoula, Mississippi.  She worked for the City of Pascagoula for the Parks and Recreation Department, developing and serving as the director of the Pascagoula Senior Citizens’ Center and Coordinator of The Old Depot Art Gallery and Center.  Virginia was past President of the Pascagoula Junior Auxiliary, a member of the Civic Guild, Garden Club, St. John’s Episcopal Flower Guild, and St. John’s Episcopal Vestry.  Virginia participated in many art activities as both an advocate and an artist throughout her lifetime.  She had several one-woman art shows and won many awards for her artwork.  After Hurricane Katrina, she and her husband Tom moved back to Columbus where she decided to go back to college and take more art courses where she thrived.   

                                                                                                                                                                                                

Preceded in death by her mother Virginia Foster Lloyd, her father Joseph C. Lloyd Survived by her husband  of 56 years, Thomas E. Eselin Daughter, Anne Eselin Bartin (Tim) Son, Thomas Lloyd Eselin (Karla) Daughter, Caroline Eselin Schaefer (Roberto) Sister, Ehren Lloyd Grandchildren, Virginia Anne Bartin, Patrick Bartin, and Travis Bartin Nephews-Rich Doyle, Jay Patt, Johnny Orth, Chet Eselin, Eric Eselin Nieces-Lauri Eaker (Steve), Stephanie Eselin Landers Sister-in-Laws, Marie Eselin Steele (Vernon), Mercedes Eselin and many cousins.

 

The visitation will be at St. John's Episcopal Church Parish Hall on Monday August 19, 2019, 11:00 a.m. til 12:00 noon with funeral service at noon in the Church Sanctuary.   Burial following at Greenwood Cemetery.
