Virginia "Gini" Trease

Virginia “Gini” Carol Trease passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 in Pascagoula, MS at the age of 80.

Gini was born on January 5, 1943 in Wiggins, MS to J.D. and Dorothy Parker. On May 13, 1975 a man in uniform by the name of Jim Trease caught her attention and on July 6, 1975 they were married. Although it was a whirlwind romance her question to him was, “What took you so long?”  This beautiful, intelligent, passionate young lady thrived in military life.  She was a self-appointed liaison for those young individuals and families struggling with life.  She loved people and had incredible organizational skills and an eye for detail. She was also instrumental on the committee created to help in the adjustment of enlisted families.  As members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gini was asked to organize a fellowship for the senior citizens in the congregation the first Sunday of the Month. She took on the responsibility preparing food and over the course of 5 years and 840 different recipes, she only repeated a recipe once. Jim had promised that he would get her closer to home. In 2010 after being in the Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri an opening came available in the Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi and James made good on his promise and they moved to Gautier, MS.   After retirement she continued to work beside her husband as a team at conventions and other public functions. Their marriage was based on a friendship, they talked, they shared and truly complimented each other. For the last year they have enjoyed being a part of the family of the Mosaic Church in Ocean Springs, MS.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy, Jimmy, and Johnny Parker.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years James C. Trease of Gautier, MS; siblings, Patricia Speed (Keith) of Gautier, MS, Michael Parker (Tamara) Wiggins, MS, and Alfred Parker (Genny) both of Wiggins, MS.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Mosaic Church in Ocean Springs, MS at 11 am with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12 pm.
