Wendell Darnell McCool or "Doke" as he was affectionately called by many passed away at home on January 18, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Darnell was a resident of Pascagoula, MS and was was born and raised in Kreole. He was born on March 15, 1953 to Edward and Peggy McCool. Darnell was a lot of things to a lot of people. He was a partner, a son, an uncle, a cousin, and a father but his favorite role was Dokie (grandpa). His love for his two daughters and his grand babies was like no other.
Darnell loved vehicles, especially of the classic varieties. In the 70's he was one of the founding members of the Singing River Street Rod Association. He owned several classics throughout the years and always enjoyed tinkering with his own and others. He ran Darnell's Paint and Body before he retired but even after, he never stopped working on cars. He loved going to Cruising the Coast every year to admire the cars and enjoy the entertainment.
Darnell enjoyed spending time with his family. He could be talked into going along with just about any hairbrained ideas we could come up with and a lot of the time he came up with his own. You never knew what he'd show up wearing or what tricks he had up his sleeves. He loved making people laugh and scaring them half to death too. He was a jokester, trickster, and a hard worker.
Darnell is preceded in death by his father Calvin Edward McCool, his mother Peggy Jean McCool, brothers Jerome and Richard Wayne McCool, and sister Sandra Kay Roberson. He is survived by his long time partner Lanell Bean, his daughters Amanda (Daniel) McCool, Kalen (Trevor) Glynn, grandchildren Joshua Luna, Easton Glynn, Cheyenne Glynn, Georgia Glynn, and Mallory Glynn, sister Renee Boyd, nieces Jessica (Bernie) Ruiz, Jada Boyd, along with many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends that he loved dearly.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan 26, 2024, 5:00-6:00pm at Kreole Baptist Church. Memorial Service will begin at 6:00pm
